    NW schools get safety boost

Anglo Platinum has donated scholar patrol equipment worth R250 000 to 10 schools in the North West.

Provincial Department of Public Safety spokesperson Lesiba Kgwele said the equipment will be used for the first phase of Anglo Platinum's Community Safety Programme which will help regulate traffic in the mornings and afternoon.

The programme, which targets schools within 50 kilometers of Anglo Platinum's operations, is implemented in partnership with the provincial Departments of Public Safety and Education. Its intention is to create a culture of road safety among both learners and motorists.

The schools which received the equipment included Reuben Monareng, Lekwakwa, Bochshoek, Bothibelelo, Platinum, Dinkwe, Lesetlheng, SG Ntuane, Lefaragatlha and Barseba Primary Schools.

The equipment consisted of patrol stop signs, reflector jackets, caps and whistles, rain coats and gloves.
